Ghee! Ghee? What is Ghee and how should I use it?

Ghee is mainly used as a baking oil, but – just like coconut-oil – it is a multi purpose fat.

In recent years, ghee is gaining popularity, especially due to the paleo-eating trend.

Key benefits (next to a great taste):

– High smoke point (250 degrees Celsius) which makes it healthy baking oil

– Vitamins A,D,E,K (including K2)

– Full spectrum short, medium and long chain fatty acids (both unsaturated and saturated)

– Contains Omega 3 and 9 essential fatty acids and phenolic antioxidants

– Great source of Conjugated Linoleic Acid

So it is tasty, easy to use, organic and healthy? I would say yes, what is not to like.

Is our Ghee made from dairy produced by grass fed cattle?

Yes it is. We only use west European organic cows which can graze all summer long in the grasslands. However it is not 100% grass fed since there is insufficient grass available in winter. In winter it is mainly dried grass stored in summer, and differing per farm with sometimes some additional feed.

Yes, you can. Bulletproof coffee is a great way to give give a health boost to your morning rituals. Bulletproof coffee as invented by Dave Asprey requires coffee, or, if you are sensitive to coffee, Chikko not coffee, Brain Octane and pure grass-fed butter. More taste, easier to use and same health benefits.

Does Ghee fit in a Paleo diet?

Is your Ghee Ayurvedic and what is Ayurveda?

Our Ghee can be used as a part of an ayurvedic diet, Ayurveda is an old indian medicinal lifestyle. Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential.

A short overview of some rules implied at an ayurvedic diet according to Deepak Chopra:

  • Always sit down to eat (don’t eat in front of your computer or TV or while you’re driving).
  • Eat in a settled atmosphere and not when you’re upset.
  • Don’t eat until you’re definitely hungry.
  • Dine at a moderate pace. Don’t gulp down your food or eat too slowly.
  • Minimize raw foods, which are much harder to digest than cooked ones.
  • Include all six tastes at each meal.
  • Drink hot water with ginger throughout the day.
  • Practice some form of moderate exercise on a regular basis.
  • Perform a daily oil massage with herbalized oil that balances your mind-body type.
  • Spend time in the quiet of meditation every day.

In short:

Take it easy.

Ghee Easy

The Ayurvedic approach is about aligning with the infinite organizing power of nature rather than struggling or trying to force things to go your way.  This principle is embodied by the the Law of least effort. When you observe nature, you will notice that grass doesn’t try to grow; it just grows. Birds don’t try to fly; they just fly. Flowers don’t try to blossom; they just blossom. Nature functions with effortless ease, frictionlessly and spontaneously. It is intuitive, holistic, non-linear, and nourishing.  You will expend least effort when your actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love. When you chase after status, money, power, or accolades, you waste energy, but when your actions are motivated by love, your energy expands and accumulates. So take it easy and be guided by love.
